Palonosetron hydrochloride is an antiemetic drug, the main active ingredient of which is palonosetron. Palonosetron is a selective antagonist of the 5-H3 receptor, which has no or low affinity for other receptors. 5-H3 receptors are located in the central emetic chemoreceptors in the last region of the medulla oblongata and in the surrounding vagal nerve endings, and chemotherapeutic drugs stimulate the release of 5-HT from chromophores in the small intestine, which in turn activates the 5-H3 receptors in the vagal afferent nerves, thus producing an emetic response. Palonosetron hydrochloride can inhibit the 5-H3 receptor, thus providing an antiemetic effect. In clinical practice, palonosetron hydrochloride is mainly used to prevent and treat gastrointestinal reactions caused by chemotherapy, such as nausea, vomiting and other related symptoms. In conclusion, palonosetron hydrochloride has an antiemetic effect.
